In
order to prove the births and deaths of illegitimate children, it is
often necessary to order certificates. In the source column for the
'"single mothers' families, a certificate is indicated with the
letters 'BC' at the beginning. As with the marriages, all numbers with
an 'F' indicate a microfilm source.
Sometimes
the alleged father’s name is given in a parish register source, and
occasionally clues to the father’s name can found in a certificate.
I
have chosen to use the birth certificates as a reference source
connecting mothers and children. By requesting the family group (click
on the family number), you will have access to the child’s
birth information.
